What if you can customize your own phone?

So what if we tell you that you can customize your own phone.Google had started this project named Project ARA that was to reduce the electronic waste and provide an opportunity to users to customize their phones to meet their demands.
This project was initially planned with Motorola but since google sold moto to lenovo the project got delayed.Project Ara was developed and was led by Paul Eremenko, who in 2015 became CEO of the Airbus Group Silicon Valley technology and business innovation center. The project falls under Regina Dugan, who runs Google's Advanced Technology and Projects (ATAP) organization.

So how does this device look?

Well, that depends upon your purchasing power. Google will be providing every component of the phone to user including displays, battery , processors etc  which are being referred as modules that will be attached to a metal exoskeleton frame called 'endo'. These modules can replaced over time to time with new upgrades.
The device frame will be available in 3 different sizes.
1. Mini       - about the size of Nokia 3310.
2. Medium - about the size Google nexus 5.
3. Large     - about the size of Samsung Note 3.

Pricing?

Now, the bigger question comes to our mind.what will be the price of this device. Well for now Google has revealed that prices would vary from $50-$500.The very basic phone would be available at $50 consisting of a frame, display, low end CPU and WiFi. Slowly if we raise the price we will get better features.

Expectation?

We expect a lot from this device just like Google is expecting a lot. One of biggest expectation would be good features at low price. Well most of company are trying to deliver their best creation but what they fail to do is the pricing. t times you love the price but you are forced to sacrifice the good feature aspects. Secondly would be easy availability of the phone i.e. modules and frame along with proper Google certified centers where we get to know about the device and even get good after sale service of the product.
So once you got Ara you don't have to buy a new phone, you just have to upgrade your modules, that's what google wants to achieve. in-order to do so they need to have proper designs and looks because in today's world people do get bored because the same look and design of their devices and they tend to change it ever year.
In the end let's just hope that this device be a game changer and helps to reduce E-waste.
